Matho is known to outsiders for its annual Oracle Matho Nagrang Festival, held on the 14th and 15th days of the first month of the Tibetan calendar. During this festival, two oracles, known as "Rongtsan", are said to inhabit for a few hours the body of two monks. The purpose of these oracles is to attempt to predict the fortunes of the local village communities for the coming year.

Day 01: 12 Feb 2019: Arrive Delhi – transfer to hotel

Day 02: 13 Feb 2019: Morning flight to Leh and full day to acclimatize with our local guide.

Day 03: 14 Feb 2019: Visit to Thiksey, Hemis and Shey. 

Day 04: 15 Feb 2019:Leh to Uletopko drive, visit to Alchi and Likir monasteries. 

Day 05: 16 Feb 2019: Uletopko to Leh drive. 

Day 06: 17 Feb 2019 : Visit to Stok Tsechu- the Stok Guru Tsechu is the annual festival of oracles held every year in the Stok village. This Ladakh Stok Guru festival is celebrated in the 9th and 10th day of the 1st month of the Tibetan Lunar calendar every year. The Stok Guru Tsechu is celebrated in a small monastery called Gurphug, a subsidiary of the Spituk Monastery. Stok Guru Tsechu festival Ladakh is celebrated with great pomp involving the monks from the Spituk Monastery, presenting sacred dances and oracle appearances. The prediction perform by the oracles are widely acknowledged as well as believed by the natives of the region. 

Day 07: 18 Feb 2019: Full day at Matho Festival- The festival of the blindfolded acrobatic oracle monks at the only Sakyapa monastic establishment in Ladakh. During this festival, two oracles, known as "Rongtsan", are said to inhabit for a few hours the body of two monks. The purpose of these oracles is to attempt to predict the fortunes of the local village communities for the coming year. The monks that are to be the oracles vehicles are chosen one every two years for a duration of 4 years. The first year the monk will have to meditate for 9 month before the festival. The three next years the meditation will last 3 months. The selection is done by lots: one name is drawn from a bowl where all monks allowed to be oracles have put their name written on a paper. Matho is also home to a collection of THANGKAS dating back to the 14th century

Day 09: 20 Feb 2019: Leh- Delhi flight in the morning and later sightseeing of Delhi.

Day 10: 21 Feb 2019: Fly out

Insurance:  All persons are expected to arrange their own insurance.  For pure adventure journeys, it is a condition of joining our trips that you must be adequately insured. The best insurance company you will find in your own country, for climbing and trekking we don’t have insurance company available in India.

Our hotels: We offer you best hotels in cities and towns. On long haul journeys, we five a flavor of heritage resorts and home stay too depending on the nature of trip. On our website, the hotels mentioned are generally a combination of 5,4 and 3 star hotels which you can amend anytime according to your budget.

Adventure India briefing: Normally we make briefing for our adventure journeys but we have realized this practice quite helpful for the cultural trips too. So we developed a system of having 01 hours briefing in Delhi about the entire trip.
